Havoc Launcher convertion

Howdy y'all

This is a conversion that I am working on for my new Black Legion Rhinos. Only 1.5 days until the big game so I am trying to cross all the I and dot all the T's. Thisis a fairly simple convertion. The body is from the chaos vehicle sprue, while the head/ skull I used is from the forge world servitor set. A simple skull would work just as well but with so many bits lying around, why not. To get the missle barrels I used a havoc launcher from the chaos sprue. I cut of the end barrels from each side, or I cut out the middle set of tubes. The havoc launcher that I used was assembled and so I cant say whether it was easier or not to cut the assembled one. I used the spiked armour plates from the Older chaos vehicle sprue for inbetween the missle tubes. I dont have the pictures of it but I will probably glue a undivided chaos star on the outside where the pivot hole is. I will post another entry when I paint it.

Emergency Khorne Beserkers

That little d-bag in our game club decided to pull his WOrld Eaters out of the big game less than two weeks before the show down. Thats 2200 points in less than two weeks. Didnt happen but the club pulled together like something possessed with fervor! All right Im real sorry that I havent been able to post but ORganizing the Apoc is a really difficult thing to do. Its not all taking heads and evil laughter.

I was forced to paint these beserkers in the course of two nights. The first photo was after I sprayed the whole squad in a acceptable red and then started to pick out the detail that I would either leave black or paint silver metallic. OVer this last month and a half i have learned to paint shining gold very quickly and with as many shortcuts as possible. When you paint shining gold, it has a tendency to streak. I usually do my finer models with two coats of thined gold, but I didnt have that option here. The picture with the paint brush shows how loaded up the tip of the brush is when doing this type of painting. Caution, when doing thicker coats of metallics, you will lose some of the "crispness" of the details. However, since the next step is to ink the whole model with brown ink, nothing is really loss. I would not normally use the same color ink all over the model but it worked very well and time is money here when trying to destroy the imperium! Next and last would be the very control dry brushing of the bolt gun metal for the chains axe teeth, bolt pistols and chains on the torso and legs. oh yeah, then base them. Ta da, beserkers!

mercifull lords of the realm

Lords, please forgive me. I have not posted in ages and you deserve better. There has been technical problems with the home pc. Weak excuse I know and woe is me since you despise weakness my lords, but if you grant me mercy I will explore and reward you with treasures from realms only dreamed of. With your mercy, I shall live on in my own pitiful way and give you what you deserve, good paint techniques!

Alpha Legion Havoc Squad

Here are 8 figs that I am of course doing for the big game. Gotta get the alpha legion in there right. I am really surprised how much I like these guys. I hope that the color of the power armour comes through with the pics ive taken. I started by spraying with the same dark navy blue as I used in the Alpha legion rhino and with the whole TSONS army. I gave the havocs a dry brush, yeah I know a big surprise, with Snot Green from the GW line. Next I used black to paint certain parts of the armour trim, weapons and horns. I did this because I didnt know how well the metallic would turn out if I didnt. It turned out fine either way so I would suggest skipping it. I ran out of Boltgun metal so I used chainmail instead. It turned out to be a great choice. I painted the lenses of the helms a yellow because I believe that a good paint job needs broken up with some contrast and a red lense would not have been enough.

a note on the quality of the work. These figs are not by any stretch of the imagination done to a level that I prefer. There are simple getting done to play in the big game. After this logisitics nightmare is over, I will do a more advanced project on both convertion and painting. I think the next few posts will be about terrain. We will see, wont we?
